RVF pistons

Post by greggo »

RVF 400 pistons first oversize or larger...

How much can I expect to pay and who has the best prices?

Anyone got any second hand useable ones? Oim in Ostraya.

I'm gonna build my spare NC29 engine with these and do some REALLY mild porting myself (knife edge the inlet divider and smooth the exhaust).

Not one listed in the fiche[0] and attempting to try a search on david silver spares for the likely oversize part numbers[1] results in nothing (it finds the 'std' piston[2]).

While I don't know for sure it looks as if davidsimon10 is right.

[0] Tor the VFR750 there is listed +0.25 and +0.5 for example
[1] If anything like the VFR750 oversize part numbers then RVF std is 13101-mr8-900, oversize +.25 likely 13102-mr8-900, oversize +.5 likely 13103-mr8-900
[2] As a special order "get in from honda" item so it's not like they've got a few hanging around either.

Have you tried Southern Cross Sports and RB Racing? Likely to be expensive, but probably your best bet if you need new.

I wouldnt put used pistons in the cbr. they'll have worn to the cylinders they came out of and for sure your will be worn differently, so it could make for some sloppy piston action.

I spoke with RB imports a couple of years back on using the RVF pistons. They told me they would NOT work, no way, no how.
Funny that they do tho...

They also told me that a NC30 tranny wouldn't work, but it does as well, so...

RB imports may not be the best source of information in regards to your project.

As the man said, there are no oversize pistons listed for NC30/35...
