Cutting out occasionally
Hey,
My bike starts everytime and ride fine. However, when left to idle the RPM sometimes slowley reduce until the engine cuts out.
if the tick over is increased its fine but then it ticks over too high.
Could this be float height? or valve clearances?

The carbs probably just need to be cleaned and balaced then the idle can be reset.

Try adjusting the pilot air screw's under the carbs. do it 1/4 turn at a time on all carbs together BUT check what they are set on first ( turn them in all the way slowly and count how many turns it takes ie 1 3/4) so if it dosen't work you can just reset them. I find tuning them out a bit can often make the idle much more even.

Hi all, Having exactly the same issue with my 88 1WG genesis EXUP SP could somebody post a photo or something so i can find the very well hidden pilot/mix screws? very quickly becoming my nemesis on the genesis

'87 SP ...
The SP used slightly different carbs but they'll be in one of 2 places - on the bottom of the carb just forward of the float bowl (sometimes just inside it) or on the bottom of belmouth.
I'd say to clean your carbs thoughly first and balance them before you adjust the air screws.
It's better to know the Valve clearances are withing spec before doing the carbs

... On another note my rectifier is running VERY hot too hot to touch, changed the original as it had popped and was having the same issue, now the new one seems to be cooking too? i know they are basically a heat-sink but im worried my seat/arse/back will set on fire?

Check the wiring isn't damaged, the wires cause a higher resistance and run hotter. Check and clean the connections too.
