Inline 600's are a dime a dozen and I like the character of the V4. I know it's not very practical to dump that kind of money into a 20 year old bike, but over here in the States, these bikes are very special.

So if I'm looking to get my V4 motor tuned up my choices are G force, RLR, and TTS?

I'm trying to see what my options are so start putting away some money. I don't mind spending a little bit either.

E-mail just arrived from Paul at TTS Performance to say that 443 cc kit is the only one offered. Maybe you guys in UK can get 490 cc option.

Im pretty sure RLR dont take on new work on 400's. Being in the US your best best would be G force, if your willing to spend mike will get you 80+ bhp, im sure his current bike is getting on for 90bhp.

Nope I'm in Southern California in the USA. Another 20 or so Hp would be fantastic. I'll start putting my change in my piggy bank if G-Force would be willing to help.

Working on the assumption that a ready to go 490cc kit is not an option and IMO 443cc is too small for the trouble, I am planning to get 483cc by running FZR600 pistons, a Mike Norman suggestion. Max oversize OEM FZR piston is 60.0mm and Wiseco make a 60.5mm version, giving 475cc and 483cc respectively.

The FZR piston appears to have very similar in design to the NC30 piston, particularly pin to deck height and may have the advantage a shorter shirt. Mike Norman's recommendation of the FZR piston is based on the good ring pack and low weight. Only problem is that the pin size is 16mm not 14mm as per NC30. Solution to this might be capped 1mm wall thickness bushes fitted to the end of the NC30 piston pins. Cylinders will need to be re-sleeved.

Will acquire an FZR600 piston to confirm dimensions and go from there. Would anyone have access to a top case to measure the wall thickness of NC30 cylinders. My major problem here in Oz is access to NC30 parts, engine in particular, can only buy a complete engine for a lot of money, and I am not keen to disassemble my running NC30.

When i spoke to rick about his 490cc he seemed doubtfull TTS would do another due to hassle they had doing his, i cant remember exactly what he said but it was something to do with it being hit and miss getting things lined up after boring the cylinders to their limits.

The thing to remember about wall thickness of the NC30 jugs is the fact that the inserts are rarely bored out through the axis of the cylinder, meaning that the wall thickness will be thinner on one side. It is so bad that you can usually see it with the naked eye. The best solution is to replace the liners altogether.
