Speedo/ speed limiter (not your usual question)

Post by Willcox »

Right I decided that I'm fitting a mph converter to my cbr400rrk 89, so I thought I would change the speedo km to miles and fit a mph sticker over the kmh on the speedo face, so I took the clocks apart and discovered that there is no speed limiter inside or wiring coming out of the speedo (but the disc is inside), so I decided to investigative the wiring loom and found that I have no limiter light as its been removed and wires cut, I also noticed that there was no orange and blue wire going to the speedo but there is in the main loom but the orange and blue wire doesn't come out of the cdi even though its a blue label cdi?

So I guess its unrestricted then? only thing i can think is that someone has swapped some bits over from a cbr400rrj and put a gold cdi inside a blue cdi case?

Has the wiring been spliced at the cdi end maybe??? I've seen nsr cdi's modded inside the cdi so it's not easily detected.

there's no wire going to the cdi at all so if it has been done it must of been done inside

Well i did a bit more digging today and found that the orange/blue wire has bee cut and spliced into the black/white wire in the cdi loom but there's no resistor? will this matter?
