slightly confused

Post by nazzurro_19 »

right im now going to buy some parts from wemoto for my old nc30

i was always under the impression it was a jap import so i clicked the nc30 (jap r3k), then something in my head said "check your iphone pics" and so i did and my bike code is

vfr400r3l
colour nh-1
code nh1k

so i went back on wemoto and apparently that code makes my bike a 1990-1991 european import, but my v5 says its a 1989 :S

so is it a early jap or is it a later european ,

then i went on to the colour code chart pic , sticky thing on here and i couldnt find a pic for the code of the colour which my bike should be

also i did a search on r3l , and it says they have a rear remote res for the shock and better front forks i dont have a rear remote res and i defo dont have diff forks

also it says european ones had bigger headlights but mine are the same size

so now i dont know what my bike is lol bar broken,..., haha

The codes you state refers to a 1991 type 5 Japanese market bike:-

Your bike should have a remote reservoir shock and later type forks. It sounds like your bike might be a bit of a 'bitsa'. Have a read through the differences between Japapnese and UK/Euro spec bikes here and check your chassis/engine numbers against the list here.

It doesn't matter at all though - as your parts will still all fit.

Check your frame no against the records to see what that is - the undertray says it is a later bike, the mechanical bits say it is not.

So..it was probably built up into the bike you have now with bodywork, undertray and so on. not that unusual really..seeing as they are bloody old!

What parts you after anyways?

I'd get hold of Rick Oliver and get them from him to be fair...keep it in the 400GB

battery - YTX7BS or YTX9BS - both fit, the 9 battery is 15mm taller.

Gaskets are the same and 35w lamps are the same too..

Thats the easy-tell tale.

UK bikes NEVER had 35watt bulbs.

Are you getting this information off a sticker from the bike under the seat? Chances are then that it's not the original rear-tray, probably been replaced in an earlier crash.

Later type (and the UK bike) have cartidge forks (theres two adjustments on the top, the silver adjuster and a brass adjuster inset into it, while the early damper rod forks only have a silver adjuster) and they also have a remote res rear shock.

All the parts you've mentioned will fit from any model though.
