Nc21/24 engine casings the same as nc30?

Post by royster81 »

There is a guy near me selling his damaged nc21, it's got two motors, one damaged and one running, as far as I know the nc21/24 ran an oil cooler like the uk nc30's, so could you use the 21/24 casings with nc30 internals to make an nc30 with an oil cooler ?

I expect they are, they're all marked NC13E aren't they? You could probably just nick the lower casing, save all the hassle of moving the bits across :)

Yeah there all NC13E engines.

The cases are machined as pairs but knowing Honda tolerances you could probably use an NC24 bottom end with an NC30 top and they'd line up without any leaks.

Crank is different as it fires 180 but the oil cooler is the same part as the NC30 UK model so you could utilise that and the oil cooler.

Top end is also different as it has locknut adjusted valves and 10mm plugs.

At the very least you could rob the oil cooler and while the bottom end is off just drill the NC30 crank-case holes to match the 24's and fit the oil cooler and pipes and away you do.

He's looking £150 for the motor so I'll not bother looking into this anymore.
But I am trying to get his hydraulic clutch ....
