Aye, good to be getting on it.
@ Jim - Aye, not my Husky though - it is a mate's - 350 2T beast. Too cool.
I'll be fitting that motor tomorrow all being well - should be rolling maybe by the weekend, no Cosford I'm sorry to say.
@ Ricky - that is my arse warmer....

Re: Number 9 - What was and what shall be
Well...the motor, which was a cheap old lump, is not healthy.
I removed the plugs to drop a touch of oil in the tops to turn it over by hand. No1 plugs came out, stinking and rank. Such a nasty smell....
I dropped a touch of oil in the tops, whipped off the timing cover and got to turn it over.
It was a touch stiff for half a turn, but came free and then at nearly a full turn there was a feeling in the breaker bar - a bit of a clunk.
Turned it some more...and it was freeing up nicely but same point in the revolution - clunk. So...I think it is fucked,
Any ideas? with it being bang on each 360 degrees I suspect that No1 is fecked.
Anyways - I now have 4 engines on my bench.
1> ex race engine, No1 piston buggered and head ruined - am fairly happy the bottom end is good
2> no9 original engine - runs, but has impending bottom end failure.
3> half engine - no provenance - could fit heads and find it works...or not
4> "new" engine - as above - something is pretty wrong with it.
I reckon that sticking no4 engine heads onto the no3 half motor might be an option - but no guarantee of success. I only have one set of headgaskets...and would rather get this right first time.
The joys of NC30 ownership..not ridden mine for over 6 months now..getting on my tits.

Re: Number 9 - What was and what shall be
Thats a bummer, no easy option there, is no.3 the half engine i gave you? if so i wouldnt trust that is ok, it was just thrown together from spares left over from a engine build (not by me), plus doesnt that bottom end have mismatching pistons? 3 vfr and 1 rvf?
What about no.4 heads on no.1 bottom end?
What about no.4 heads on no.1 bottom end?

Aye, I'll get some motor stripping and see what I can see. If No1 motor is OK then I need the piston for No1 from another motor. I'll practice some removals on the No3 motor (and get your piston back to you)
Will see what can be done - Sure our man Geoff will have a motor some time that I can go and see running and help him whip it out the bike!

Re: Number 9 - What was and what shall be
No1 bottom with no2 heads and no3 bottom with no4 heads is the way I would go.
