possible to fit a 53mm outlet exhaust to nc30?
Hello. i see some great exhausts for yamaha r6 and other 600 cc bikes. and they all have a few mm bigger outlet size obviously due to the bigger cc... but i was wondering if i could fit a 53-54mm pipe onto my TSR's link pipe and just somehow crush the outlet close with a clamp? or would there be too much gap that it would start leaking? oooor another thing, IF there is some sort of extra link pipe i can use please do share
thanks!!

thanks!!

you shouldn't have to crush anything, either get it repaired (properly) or buy one that fits.

Although I think you will do it anyway. You do know that it's wrong to do it but you also know that you'll probably do it regardless of the advice you get. It clearly won't function properly with a bodge job.

well its strange because my current pipe is 51mm and the link pipe is like 47-48mm which is a fair gap to close... it came like that wiht the bike, but ive been told its a half TSR system. the can has those slits on the outlet so it can be closed shut with the clamp, when i mean crushed, i mean closed
not crushed as in damaging crushed.

are both mesurements ID? (inside diamater - this means inside the pipexivlia wrote:well its strange because my current pipe is 51mm and the link pipe is like 47-48mm

if so you'll prob find that the link pipe is made from 1 - 1.5mm ms/ss or ti.
so if it is going to fit inside the can it needs to be that much smaller.
so a link pipe made from 1mm ti,
with 48mm ID - will have a 50mm OD (outside diamater - you guessed it

so put a 50mm OD pipe against a 51mm ID pipe and guess what..... it fits,
leaving only 1mm for the clamp to close

yes my measurements are both ID, infact when i slip the pipe on, it moves up and down quite abit... untill i clamp it and use the hanger clamp too...

Aye stop bodging things it'll come back and bite you in the arse one day. Any can can be made to fit, either get a new inlet cap for the can that fits the link pipe correctly or have a ali sleeve made to take up the difference between the 2, the former is prefered but does require a bit more mechanical know how to fit the inlet although its not rocket science.
