http://www.wemoto.com/info/Sprocket_Gear_Ratios/
lower the ratio (rear/front) = more top end
higher ratio = more acc.
also got this, need to know a bit more about the gearbox you have to get accuracy though!
theres a stock setting for a 3en on here with the 18inch rear though.

Re: Did the FZR 400 ever come in 5 speed??
EC, about 13.5k in top gear?
Taggy, great info there thanks!!! From what i can see there it would probably benefit from just a front sprocket change between 16-19T which would bring the ratio down from between 2.94 to 2.47 as opossed to it's current 3.13?? The standerd out the box SP gear ratio is 2.73 with 15/41 T sprockets.. But it's difficult to find the correct compromise for a fast track but a mixture of slow bends, hopefully somone pops up who has had some experiance racing with the SP and can point me in the right direction with a good set up, i don't want to be forking out loads of money through trial and error..
Thanks

Re: Did the FZR 400 ever come in 5 speed??
Engine was refreshed a couple of track days ago so didn't really want to push it to the limiter to much, although i did hit just over 14k a couple of times when i got carried away which was a bit naughty, but i kept it backed of at 13.5k to get me along the rest of the straight as it was running out of steem half way down, i thought this was the safest way, if that makes sence?
And it is running no filter just a airbox.
Thanks

It makes sense - I'd say it's just a gearing thing then.

Ok cool, i might give Leo from NM a ring tomorrow hopefully he doesn't mind the quik call.. I'm sure he will be able to point me in the right direction to gear ratio!! I also want to let him know how fantastic the engine is that he has rebuilt..
Cheers guys
