you could always put an inline fuse into the system somewhere if you are still worried. should be easy enough to do though, heck of a lot easier than re-wiring an old series landrover anyway!

Yeh I agree about the fuse, I have just swapped cdi's again to take it on a long ride to see if it is any better. I noticed now that you have one less connect block of three wires. This of course is left on the loom, wonder what these 3 wires do?

you could trace them on the wiring diagram but I'd guess at Side Stand cut out / speedo sensor / fuel sensor / rev limit sensor into the cdi ... they might be the same wires doing the same thing though.

The bulb would act as the fuse in the circuit ?

bulb...fuse... guess it would yes! too much oomph, blow bulb, circuit dead.
i guess i'm just over cautious with the electrics after some plonker used cardboard to hold the live feed check plug onto the landrover i had, so as soon as i moved the dash to fit a spotlight switch, it touched the other wire and made lots of nice smoke and melted wires!

Decisions!!!! Just been out on my bike bloody awful weather but took for miles with the doctored cdi. The bike felt sharp this time but still had the bad running at 2800rpm as always it "seemed" better but do not believe there would be any different. Also now it is a racing cdi the power curve is different and you aren't so aware of the exup missing.

The standard cdi has kept me happy for over 5k, same bad running down low, my one moment of madness reved to over 15k and have the mph converter fitted and reserve works!

I really don't know which one to use a "sharper bike " or the other with reserve working?

I have just done 107 miles on a nearly full tank but have no idea how many miles I have left and being stuck on the roadside with no fuel is not fun!!

Be interested to know what cdi you guys would run?

the one that feels better to you and just set your milage limit to 110 miles and you should have enough leeway to get fuel. i personally dont like to get near reserve and keep a bit of fuel at home to keep the level up.
