Gk 73/76 part swap

Post by Thundastruck »

Greetings,

I am trying to restore a gk76A and want to save some money. I still have my old Gk73 in the garage ( in pieces )

I need to replace the following on the gk76:

Chain and sprockets
Rear shock
Front forks
Brake discs ( front and back )
Rear Wheel

Ive been trying to find out which parts i can use from my gk73. The mechanics in Cape Town insist that you cant use any of the parts, but the motor spares intustry is so corrupt here that I ignore such comments and also do as much work as i can on my own. ( they like to break other or steal and replace parts here so you have to come back and spend more money )

So far the rear disc seems to be itentical.

Anyone have knowlegde on the issue ?

Shared parts are chain & sprockets, rear disc. If you have a 1989 17" rear wheel 73a you can use the wheels, early 1988 73a has 3" wide NOT 3.5" front wheel and 18" rear. Forks may go in if you swop out the yoke and the rear shock is not the same but will work.
Front discs are not the same 76a is 300mm and 73a is 290mm so if you change the forks you got to use the discs.
