cleaning and getting rid of rust, exhaust downpipe?

okay..so i hate the look of my downpipe. its all brown and oxidised...is there ANY way of cleaning and polishing that up? i want it to look silver and shiny..i dont want to buy stainless steel pipes either cause they cost too much..

Wire wheel and 3 stage polishing mops on a bench grinder.

have a look at my build thread (Click linky in my signature) and you'll see what's achievable with a bit of elbow grease

wow thas very nice. i have a bench grinder. and wire wheel and polishing wheels. but what did you use the wire wheel for? to get the rust out? and then do the finishing touch with the polishing wheel? oh and what polishing matterial did you use may i ask? :)

just used polishing soaps for the buffers, and i used sand paper, W&D and wire wheel to get the oxidation/surface rust off.
