FZR 400 3TJ with full micron system

Post by spadey99 »

Hi there

my above bike has a full Micron system on it but I hate the tail pipe, what other tail pipes will fit? Is it just a case of measuring the connection join and buying a generic one?

Just whip the can off and measure across the inlet...

Might be wrong but it may well be 2" (51-52mm) which is massive common size of early pre 2000 pipework...

Some microns are 54mm-57 dependent on type off system..

Any probs gimme a whistle as can source cans for you if you get a bit lost :peace:

I don't think Micron did a full system for the 3TJ, it could just be a can ... try A16 on e-bay they'll be able to do you a couple of different types from a GP style ( http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/MOTO-GP-STYLE-CAR ... 53d9bb09e6 ) to a road race one prices seem to go from about £120 - £175 depending on material and type

Will have a look as wanted a stubby one really, would pop a picture up but not sure how to do it!!!! The guy I bought it off was convinced it is a full system for the fzr, and it is def a 3tj.

It might be a full system, but the 3TJ is a jap import and the 4DX (the UK model) isn't common. A full system would remove the exup leaving the bike a bit gutless low down.
A16 do a stubby, but it will be loud, loud enough to get you unwanted attention. Fit a road / race can which will give you a nice sound without being stupid.
It's best to remember that most trackdays have a noise limit too.

Yeah I was thinking it would be a bit gutless without the EXUP valve. Might just buy a complete standard sytem and get a stubby can. Im sure a full micron system would fetch good money on e bay.

I recently purchased this 1wg with a yoshimura carbon can, they often are available on the bay for sale not too expensive either. Nice and meaty sound too.

It's a 3en1 bike, the fairing lower is from a 3en2
