Back to standard - remove speedo weird derestictoon
All I want to do is get my 3TJ running! The bloke I got it off derestected in the speed itself by turning over the disk that had the electricts on. I thought that the speedo needle had to touch a sensor when the bike was still to send a message to cdi ?
If mine is not doing that could that make it run bad?
If there is a chance of this happening then I want to turn back the disk.
How do you remove the upper fairing to get at the clocks or is there another way of removing speedo?
Thanks

without the speedo giving the cdi a zero signal it will restrict to 12,500 revs but the running should be ok otherwise.
Take off the fairing inners and there are 4 long nuts on the inside of the top fairing that also hold the lights on, with those undone the fairing just pulls off (forward). Be ready to catch the headlights. after that the clocks can be taken off and you`ll be able to get the speedo out as well.

Is that the four bolts that hold the mirrors on or do they have to come out aswell?Evilchicken0 wrote:without the speedo giving the cdi a zero signal it will restrict to 12,500 revs but the running should be ok otherwise.

you need to take the mirror bolts out as well as the nuts. looking at the front of the bike they are just about at the four ' corners' of the headlight hole. they bolt onto captive threads in the moulding of the front fairing. and as evil says, catch the headlight! they're quite 'long' nuts, pretty easy to find! make sure you remove the side infill screws as well or it won't come free!

the little strips that go on the top of the lower front fairing along the top of the side fairings and finish up by the frame. the fuel switch in mounted in the left hand one. look a bit like a distorted boomerang when you take them off!
