Oil Cooler mod
A post in the graphics&style section by CMSMJ1 really interested me, in which he had installed an oil cooler circuit. Where would one redirect the flow of oil from and how would this be achieved? Pump installed in the sump?

Normally on the NC35 and NC30 you put in a sandwich plate inbetween the engine and the oil filter then either pass the oil out from there into an oil-air cooler or redirect water to cool the oil.
You can if you want to machine the cases and fit a different oil pump you can fit the NC30 UK type oil cooler which fires oil out of the front (if you look at where the lower rad stay bolts onto the engine that's one of the take-offs) into an air-oil cooler.

Cheers, this photo says it all then http://www.rvf.dk/My-RVF-Trackbike/slid ... utlet.html But correct me if im wrong, the in&out ports of that oil circuit are both feeding from the outlet of the oil filter, wouldn't it be better to have a feed direct through the circuit and then to the filter, like a series circuit as opposed to a parallel circuit to use an analogy?

You can't really see but that's what it does, feeds out from one port and back in the other.
I don't know if it's 100% or a proportion of the flow, certainly in the case of my VFR750 not all of the oil flow goes through the cooler but that's Honda designed and in the pump rather than aftermarket.

I recall another fellow saying the stock non-uk spec oil pump is sufficient to maintain pressure and circulate oil through cooler, is this the case?

Dunno, probably. The difference I thought wasn't about pressure but rather the UK pump had a diversion to the front of the engine (and then to the cooler). I don't know if the actual pump itself is different or it's just the piping.

You would assume so since (I think?) an uprated pump wasn't offered with the hrc oil cooler kit. To take up some points & queries here...
The sandwich plate has an internal divider which directs the entire flow from the engine (pump) out of one of the pipes and away to the cooler and all the return flow from the cooler into the oil filter and from there on round the engine.
The difference in the pumps is that the Jap spec one has just a single pump rotor and simply picks the oil up from the sump and circulates it to the engine via the filter whereas the UK spec/NC24 pump (they are the same) has 2 discreet pump chambers side by side - the first picks oil up from the sump and pumps it up to the cooler. The return pipe from the cooler feeds into the inlet of the second pump rotor which gives the oil an `extra kick` as it pumps it on to the filter/engine.
If you want to convert a jap-spec motor to use the other pump it requires a complete strip and 2 boring operations on each of the ports in the crankcase - one in from the front and one upwards from the sump - and as well as the pump you`ll need to fit the 2 extra internal steel oil pipes in the sump.

Thanks gents, Rick i understand the proceedure you describe but would a simple oil filter spacer with in&out as descibed earlier, be possible with the stock japanese pump?
