3tj FZR 400RRSP HISTORY

Post by sportspromatt »

any one any info on rrsp history, my bike was imported in charles hurst from new 1992 its number 25 of 100

and is complete with tool kit, official import cert, cert of ownership, key fob, no. 25 of 100, and a plaque with no.25 and frame number stamped on it.

Was their only 100 RRSP, surely not, or 100 per race season, did they need 100 homogated bikes before they could race.

I will photograph the wee kit sometime, to let you all see it.

There are a few more SP's than 100.
I think what you have is a 3TJ2 model SP but I'm not sure of the original model code. The Japanese home market version of that bike would have had Red/White bodywork but you have the UK spec bike. It will have a mph speedo and no Jap speed restriction similar to the 4DX .... after that I can't tell you much as yours has been modded for racing kit exhaust and probably tinkered CDI, I wouldn't be surprised to find a polished head too.

Later Jap 3TJ SP models had the Pink, purple and White "Fruit Cocktail" and Blue Red and White colours I think these are limited to 500 units each.

I bought my 3TJ as a project for a 600 conversion but as yet haven't got the 600 part of the equation ... oh well if I get some money I'll do it some day

Cheers Lad,

it does have a mph speedo but the miles is in kilometers,
I was wondering why it done about 65 ish mph in first, it spins in the wet, quite violent, had it spinning up to third gear, think it was greasy roads though.

very reliable bike, but its getting a bit uncomfortable, went the coast road up to the giants causeway, brill road, but was getting cramps etc.

had a fzr 400 rr before this, it gave bother, was down to pickup coil on the flywheel. £20 to fix after spending near £400 and walking everywhere for three months.

I want to keep an eye out for a 400rrsp that needs restored, and then I will prob sell my own bike on and buy a R6.

I want the 400rrsp for my living room!! an absolute gem of a bike, love the way they handle, steer, spin, and SCREAM.

it does have a mph speedo but the miles is in kilometers. Thanks for the info evil. good luck with the 600 transplant.
