Really Annoyed Now!! Someone Help!
Ive had a problem for YEARS now and its the reason the bike didnt make it on the road at all last year, and its still off the road now!!
My indicators are knackered! It doesnt matter which way you move the switch, ALL FOUR flash. They flash at the right speed, just dont give any well... direction indication!
Ive tested the switch with a multimeter and i KNOW its fine. Next along is the connector by the thermostat housing but its impossible to get at (bike currently has the radiator removed in a vein attempt.
My only other thought is it could be an issue with the alarm. The alarm (datatool system 3) flashes the indicators when its armed, disarmed, or when its going off (as you would expect). Can anyone say where the alarm interacts with the indicator circuits? This is an area i can see the issue arising in.
Failing that, is there anyone near Harrow, North West London that knows these bikes well that could spare some time to help out?
I'm really getting to my wit's end with this now. Its really getting me down having the bike off the road for such a long length of time. This is the only issue thats keeping it from getting MOTed
Please Help!
Tom

Hey,
To get your bike tested take the indicators of,tape up your lights and switches and put a daytime test on it. That gets you on the road and look for a second hand loom and get rid of the alarm that`s on it (bet my left nad that`s the problem!). Dont know if there are any differences between 73/76 looms but if there is it wont be much and i`m sure you could adapt the earlier loom if the later one is`nt available. I`ve got an earlier loom(73a) you can have for the postage if it helps mate...
Good luck,
Andy

Have you tried replacing the indicator relay. Also can you unplug the alarm just to try the indicators? That should eliminate it from the bike.

Really wish I could help....not too far from you either.
You're more than welcome to switch over parts to see if it makes a differance though.
Not far from Northwick park hospital.....cheers.

That sounds great! The only thing i've chagned is from standard indicators to LED ones. So i've chagned the relay too. Could i borrow your relay to see if it makes any difference? (im not expecting it to, but you never know)
I'm a little lost with the wiring under the seats. Its all tatty and clearly been spliced a few times. can anyone send me a photo of what it should look like? Under the rear seat, one of the indicator leads had a black cable sodlered in to it but cut off after a couple of inches. No idea if that should be earthed for any reason? or if it should go somewhere else?
Who knows how to remove a datatool alarm?

Sounds like the alarm has been wired in badly to be honest. Take it out.

I thought so to, but it worked fine for the last couple years. Its just when i went to start it this year its played up.
I'm also not really up for taking it out. I'm worried i'd mess it up and the bike would be immobilised.
