Re: Still cant start it
if you connect a multimeter to the o/w wire connected to one coil and then to earth with the ignition on and it reads a voltage then your CDI is powering the coils which means there is a good change that your CDI is fine.

Re: Still cant start it
I have two engines so have swapped pickup coils over to try that and still have no spark and I know that one engine goes because I have it running in my gokart. I have just swapped engines over and wired it all up to the bike mint as plug the battery in and blow the main fuse. I thought this wouldnt be a problem being so easy to replace but after replacing it I have no power to the bike anywhere, have just stripped the loom down and tested each wire using a light and they all seem fine no breaks in them either. Still no power though. Seems like my bike just doesnt want to work and its quite dissapointing since I have just painted it and cant show it off.

Could sumone please send me a photo of a cdi with the wires coming out of it so I can see where they go as I had to cut my connectors off and maybe I have them round the wrong way.

Re: Still cant start it
I have the same problem... bike has no spark!!! I wiped out on the side with the pickup. Changed the cover and the pickup and still nothing!! I tried my CDI in another GSXR and it fired perfectly. I left my bike at a bike shop for a month and they told me it's the CDI, I then went to the expense of changing it, but still no spark!!! When you swing the bike there is nothing, but about 5 seconds after you've stopped, it will fire 1 spark from the one coil (so 2 plug leads fire 1 spark each). I am clueless as to what is wrong and no one in south africa seems to be able to help me...
. Any advice guys?? How can I test the pick up etc?

Yup thats exactly the same problem as I have. I have tested the resistance on my pickup and tests ok. Have 2 engines and I know 1 was a runner so swapped the pickups over and still no spark. Have no idea what that random spark is but ive given up and decided to take it into the shop today, hopefully they can fix it.

Re: Still cant start it
lads - identical problem to me also - have 2 CDIs and both have previously worked in the 400, but no luck lately - pickup resistance measures ok - gonna check the voltage feeding the coils tonight....
Did ye have ANY solution on this since last year?
Thanks,
Jamie (Ireland)
