After a drive through torrential rain on Sunday and a drizzling ballache of tent erection the 400GB pico meet was on.

Met Geoff and his lovely wife at the track, in the rain and grim winds of depest darkest lincolnshire! Tent sorted and Chris rolled up with his uber bandit.

We rolled to Louth to get some mucky pizza and chips and a few nelsons. Slept the sleep of the uncomfortable, full bellied insomniac and woke at 0500 to rearrange my hit and get another hour in!

We were briefed and sorted, moto all fettled and ready to roll and with a light drizzle being replaced by sunshine we were ready to get wicked.

First session was slow and chilling out and so not a lot to report. Noticed a slooooooooow dude on a zx6r and he was fucking annoying..wind it on!!

Second and 3rd sessions were getting better and I also got some timing sorted with race chrono (I'll post some piccies in a bizzle) I had a previous PB of 1m52 in a race at Cadwell and I wanted to get a 1m55 sorted for today.
3rd session, 1m55 flat! w00t.

It was a session of carnage though as we had a 954 blade highsided on the entrance to Park straight (Charlies 2) which was messy..and on the very last lap of that session a dude on a new Gixxxahhh decided to fuck it up and highside out of Mansfield. As I rode past he was immobile, out of shame and regret, whereas his once shiny bike is going to be written off as it was banana'd.

Reversecyl Jim, swooping about with Spike Edwards (is he on here? "bloke") had the blade carnage on film.

This was 2nd session..and so the 3rd session saw cement dust down at the Hairpin, the end of Park straight and Park corner, the exit of the Gooseneck and also a long dribble round Mansfield and the chicance to stop just after it. Dickhead people with oil coming out the bike and falling off a lot ..not a good start.

Lunch was burgers (thanks Charlie)and bananas and some kikcing back in the sun.

4th session was a total ballache. due to the shite zx6 man, there were rolling road blocks of dumb tossers that should learn to ride there wannabe racebikes. I was catching the train up and decided to slow right down, let them go away and I'll then get some free track. I dawdled for 2 laps...and upon picking my pace up it only took me half a lap to catch this slow and dangerous, frustrating pain in the nuts up. Just annoyed me (can you tell?)
Didn;t matter too much as I then just decided to fuck it and make some rude passes and my gear lever broke and I was stuck in 6th. Finished the session and was well pissed off and was thinking to go home.

I saw Reversecyl Jim and borrowed his spare rearsets which turned out to be a bad idea....fitted them and set the gear linkage up - noticing that the alloy plate of the rearsets was pretty thin and flexy....
went to get radical on the 5th session, struggling to get down the gears (using race shift) at the end of the Park straight and also into Mansfield. I could not then change up easily too - the lever was interfering with the linkage rod and seizing.

The run out of Barn was fast, in 3rd and I tried to get into 4th and it was no-go. the linkage was stuck and as I was revving along at 14.3k revs I gave the lever a tap to get it off the linkage rod...it shifted into 2nd.....

Buzzed the motor, clank and tinkle and whipped the clutch in asap - the engine sezied and died making some horrible noises....oh bollocks says I...knowing full well I'd just booked some quality garage time for myself.

got a ride in the recovery van, first time ever and packed my shit up...not too fucked off at the time, but now, a few hours later and waiting for a chinese (salt and chilli ribs) to arrive and with beer in hand..I am actually really pissed off and knew I should have tested the linkage first and also noted the problems I had had through the first 10 minutes.

SO....great company, nice to see the 400GB posse once again and to give Cadwell a session for over a year...and bad arrows that I broke my gearlever and my engine!

I can see the race bike thread being resurrected!

Think this sums up the day niceley!
I am in no way a fast rider but how some of the people there class themselves as itermediate riders is beyond me. I will hopefully be getting the footage of the Blade rider crashing in the next couple of days off Mr Edwards, it happened right in front of me and only just missed him as he slid up the track in front of me.
Really nice to meet up with you all again, sorry i wasnt free to chat that much.

I didn't think it was that sunny (my face is saying different though), definately warm though.

I'll get the memory card to my mate and let him do the uploading, not sure I can make you look cool though. They will be some bruised egos tonight, I don't think people like getting passed by one of them "little" 400s or a fat lad on a scruffy old GSXR.

Definately going to get cracking on the 400 now, there's more fun to be had on one of those.

Don't worry about not chatting James, you were busy.

I have a very red face!
Geoff was nice to meet you and the good lady, thanks for the food, great day out.
Jim, looks like the day paid off for you and you are confident the bike will go faster.
Oh man  Mark when we fitted the pegs i was thinking they are going to flex but i never thought a lever would pick up. My heart goes out to you and ive had a drink in memory of the motor.
If you want any help with the new one you know where i am.
