That's cool I never knew that how did you learn something like that?
Progress on the bike..... I was at the unit yesterday working on my FZ and I had my mate take the carbs off the SP and showed him how to set the floats and needle heights he's learning!
But he put it back together and when it fired it tried to rev out so I hit the kill switch I think he has fluffed something putting it back together probably the throttle cable so I didn't get chance to try the new setting.
Oh and your trick with the air box works a treat!
Do you know were we can get an air filter having difficulty finding one or can we use a filter from another model?

I spent 4 years as a mechanic after leaving school! + im getting old now so have 20+ years of bike under my belt and spent a long time around racing scooters that run Amal carbs.
I edited the needle numbers as i had'nt put the last digit on.

Hi I think 20mm float height refers to the GK76 model this thread refers to the GK73a SP which has a float height of 14.6mm.

I have just finished rebuilding the carbs on this bike.... the idle mixture screw setting and carb balancing are critical having said everything is important!
Good luck.
