NC30 bogging down

If I close the throttle when I'm riding, the revs drop quickly, and it sort of throws you forward if you're not expecting it. It's as if there's a brake dragging, but I've checked that, and it's worse in first gear than any other. Just wondering if there's something wrong, and if there's anything I can do about it.

My bike is a 1992 VFR400 NC30, restricted to 33bhp.

Mines the same as its lacking the decelerator cable, tho it prob also the compression of the engine that slows you down so quick

It's called engine braking. If you dont like it buy a 2 stroke or a norton rotary

Yeah, I didn't think it was too strange. I let a mate who has ridden a few bikes have a go on it and he was shocked by it. I've got used to it now.

It is worse than anything else I've ever ridden or driven though. Might check the return cable.

It going to be as its a V4 and is quite an unusual engine configuration if your new to bikes. My RSV 1000 with its V-twin... Now thats engine braking... :D

I wouldnt bother with the cable. If the cable was problematic, it wouldnt shut down so fast and so wouldnt 'bog down'. Just open the throttle and let it snap closed. If it returns quickly, its fine (as I suspect) if its slow to return either lube it, replace it or chuck it. Mine doesnt have the return cable and works better IMO.

It is quite a fiddly job though so if it needs any attention, lube is probably the best bet to start.
