How to fit the 600 into the 3tj

Ta for that info. As it happens, by bro-in-law is doing the same thing and he is also using a 4dx frame and is having the same sprocket issue....

Think we may be onto something here.......

Can anyone with a 3tj frame take some measurements of the rear engine mounts, relative to a fixed common point (something like the swingarm, maybe?). That way i can compare to the 4dx and finally discover the reason why the sprockets don't line up.

Although, that still doesn't really account for it...... If the engine was too far over to the left then it wouldn't just be kissing the left frame mount, it wouldn't actually fit at all....

I read that with interest, sounded just like my issue. The thing is I'm not missing any spacers, I dropped the 400 engine out and used everything to put the 600 in. I assume you got it sorted by using the missing spacer?

I discoverd i there were no spacers missing,what i did was to cut some of the bottom mount away,
that did allow me to move the motor over.

Im adapting a cat engine in my 3tj frame.

I am thinking of cutting and welding the mounts.

Yes, it's a bad idea.
Make the plates and use the countersunk screws recomended in this thread.

I agree with EC, go for the alloy plates and keep your frame mounts intact.

If you are going to cut the mounts on the frame you might as well cut them off completely and relocate them to catch both bolts on the engine. It seems a bit pointless to cut up a frame to only catch one bolt.

+1 with the guys, do not mess about with the mounts. The alloy plates are a tried and tested method that works
