GK73 Tick over
I have had this bike a while now and have never been able to get the thing to tick over properly! I have rebuilt the carbs using new o-rings, cleaned the jets etc but it just wont tick over. It revs right through cleanly now (was stalling at about 8k before). I have set the carbs to 1.5 turns out which i think is correct?
Have also tried adjusting the tick over but it goes from not ticking over to ticking over at about 3-4k! Anyone got any suggestions as to what i could try next?
Thanks

My 73 would never tick over unless the mixture screws were 2x turn`s out but every set of carbs are different(wear etc),have you balanced them buddy?

Re: GK73 Tick over
yes ive balanced them and she runs and revs perfectly it just will not tick over which is very annoying when you come to a set of traffic lights lol. Sometimes it sits at 3k for a while before it cuts out which made me think it was the jets but they are clear as day.
hmmm a mystery thanks for your help though

Re: GK73 Tick over
Hi,
Had a similar problem last year. I rebuilt a damaged engine and renewed the o-rings, set the mixture screws and started the bike. It ran at high revs then settled for a while. after about 5 minutes the bike stopped idling, fouled number 4 plug and died. I reset the float heights to 14.5mm and balanced the carbs and the bike has run perfectly since. Worth a try. If you've got fuel, air and a spark and the bike starts and runs (however poorly)theres only a few things within each system it could be really.
Hopefully this helps

Re: GK73 Tick over
Thanks for the suggestion. How would i alter the float height? what specific point does it need to be measured from? Didnt think about this when i was rebuilding the carbs so hopefully this could be a help!
