what fzr engines can i put in my 3tj or rebuild mine?
am still struggling to find a decent FZR400 engine for my 3tj and was wondering what if its possible to put in an older 3en or similar engine? I've also sent off an email to Leo at NM tuning but fear that a rebuild will be costly..just needed to get it back on the road
any suggestions? anyone got a 3tj engine kicking about??

What happened to the last engine ???
I reckon the cost of the rebuild will be higher than getting something else though.
Have a tink about a 4JH 600cc engine, you'll need the engine, downpipes, cdi, loom carbs and probably the airbox. Then plates to mount the top of the engine and a bit of mechanical savvy. Have a look at the sticky thread and see what you think.

I had a hybrid that was looked at by NM tuning... Am sure they could give you some advice on fitting a foxeye motor..
They are rapid and handle pretty well!

Thundercat motors can be fitted along with the same bits you'd need to fit the 4JH (unless of course they're one of the same thing!)

They are .... the Thundercat has a charged airbox and throttle sensor which is why the simple 4JH bits are easier for the conversionnick wrote:Thundercat motors can be fitted along with the same bits you'd need to fit the 4JH (unless of course they're one of the same thing!)

Does a R6 engine fits in any bits of 3TJ frame?
Does any one have this engine in that frame????

No the R6 engine was a complete redesign from the ThunderCat and uses a stacked gearbox like the R1. The 4JH ThunderCat / Foxeye engine has common crankcases so the bottom end lines up with the rest of the bike, the only physical difference is the length of the barrels so the top mounts are a little higher

yzf600 thundercat , fzr 600 r foxeye both 4jh engines fit with top end adapter plates, but as said carbs different. Also 3he with 4jh barrel and pistons fitted (660cc) will fit. Or same engine can be bored out to 727cc. A few fireblade motors with frame mods have been made to fit but have heard they stress the frame.

i have a 600 foxeye 1995 engine fitted in my 400 rr 3tj. a friend off mine / the prev owner did the convertion. Its quite a job, oil cooler removed and blanked off. hand made bespoke pipes and other modificatoins to make it fit. plus 600 cdi, wiring loom, clocks ,carbs. dyno print out now shows 85bhp 165mph helped by dyno jetting stage 1 and race can and free flow filters.
if this is the sort of job you are considering , i am still friends with former owner of bike so can get all the tech details , bracket mods etc. oil cooler was removed due to lack of space, but does not effect the bikes performance, the bike is wearing the original 400 plastics. some 600 conversions dont enable the original plastics to fit back on.
incidently i have just advertised the bike for sale as i fancy something more compfy for touring. it is in this months edition of motor cycle monthly
