GK76a Not Starting, Possible Fuel Problem

Post by DeeJ »

I bought a 1990 gsxr gk76a yesterday, it was starting up fine apart from a knackered battery which needs charging all the time.

I put some fresh fuel in it last night and then left it to rest overnight, I had turned the fuel tap to OFF overnight.

I came to start it up this morning after putting the fuel tap to ON, and nothing, it wouldn't start.

Only thing I can think of is that the fuel tap has stuck on OFF.

Can anyone enlighten me here.

Thanks

dont know if its the same as my GK73 but if it has a "PRI" (prime) setting, try it on that and make sure your lines are all connected including vacuum.

drain the bottom of the carbs and let the fresh fuel come through the system, mines took a little time to pull it through but eventually burst into life, use a little choke aswell.

I am only speaking from experience with mine and your bike may be different but try it anyway, if not then someone else should be able to help you out.

Yep as kev say's. Also if not good take a look if you got a spark and the flat battery may point to a knackered regulator or bad wire connection. :peace:

Hi, i am a total noob and thought the PRI somehow was OFF.

I've tried to start it with the tap on prime but still not going.

How do I drain the fuel through the carbs

On the bottom of each carb is a screw, undo these a couple of turns then do back up, put pump back to on and give that a go.

Spark plugs were totally soaked so changed them today and gave it an oil change
