nc30 wheelie

i'v e been out on my nc30 (VFR400) this morning and got a little bit brave and had a go at a wheelie.

after approx 10 attempts, the highest i managed 2 get the front wheel was approx 1foot of the ground.

My techniquie was to roll at 4000rpm in first the wind throttle on and slip clutch. is this correct or is it a recipey 4 disaster??

id start there to get your ballance, as it could be a recipe for disaster if youve never done it before,

also if you do get lift off, never do it for periods of more than say 20secs as the oil will sink to the rear of the sump and the pistons will not get the lubrication, youll end up burning the engine up or seizing it.

More of a trick for MX bikes really but if you must keep a toe on the back brake. Once it's up, if it's going over backwards a dab on the brake will bring the nose down. As above, when letting it down, give it plenty of throttle before it hits the deck which will reduce the impact.
It's risky though. Get it wrong and it'll end in tears. If you want to learn some good skills, take it on the track. That's where it was always meant to be.

to control a wheely:

increaseing revs/more bite on clutch = higher,
decreasing revs/mre slip on clutch = lower
emergency lowering of bike (say it was going over backwards) = lightly apply rear brake

I never ever ever wheely but a mate told me how to control one if i wanted to do it

If you want it to pop up easier, drop the gearing to 14f/42r.

Nc's are in no way powerfull enough to get the front up properly, your be replacing forks seals constantly or at worse do more serious damage.
