When my SP forks were rebuilt with new stanchions I don't think the springs were replaced. They work fine (but this is a road bike) and I guess if they needed to be firmer I'd adjust the comp or rebound.
They're cartridge forks

Unfortunatly with no adjustment on the forks I would like to get the springs sorted when I rebuild them.

I have just phoned Maxton, asked for the advised 0.9 springs and the woman there asked for the length and ODiameter of the springs.
Does anyone know this off the top of their head?
Or have some springs to measure to save me taking them out twice?
What wieght oil would you recommend?
Also they mentioned an upgrade kit, anyone fitted this or have any gossip about them?

Sorry about the 101 questions..... :?

Fork Springs are 37mm x 359mm. (SP). If that length is not available, you can always cut new spacers. I use the recommended 10wt fluid.

If you want a local (sort of) to you then i would definitely recommend these guys

http://www.mctsuspension.com/home.htm

Darren is the guy you want to talk to, he really knows his stuff and has rebuilt a few sets of standard RR forks that i've sent his way. Either send the forks off or better still ride the bike up there and get him to set them up to your spec

Need a quick answer... I have my forks in parts and need to know how much fork oil needs to go in them. I took 500ml out of 1 and 350ml out of the other. Any ideas?!?!?

Just to add my two pence worth.

If you are looking for a modern shock to fit your 3tj, or any bike for that matter the ohlins website ohlins.se lists a lot of shock lengths in its mounting instruction files for its shocks. Takes a bit of time but it is useful. It also tells you if the shock has a forked bottom or a single eyed bottom to it which is nice.

Standard 3tj shocks are 340mm from what i remember. (around 300 for a 1wg)

K8 gsxr 750 are around 320mm

cbr600rr are pretty much all around 310-315

2007 zx6r is 340mm

r6 is 293

Bear in mind that these may not be exactly the same as oe lengths but they are certainly close enough.

hope this is useful.
