wiring loom fitting

Post by 4hundread »

Hi all, I have been rebuilding my gsxr which came completely stripped, I cant get the loom to sit nicely at all, could anyone tell me which side of the frame it should run along beside the tank? It is starting to burst my head now! Still doesn't run yet either! Cheers, si

Hi, I am also currently rebuilding and restoring a GSXR (73A).
I recieved it half 'built' although it is still getting a full stirp down (including engine), every last detail!

The Loom on the bike I have is on the Left side. Most of the upper cables are grouped up and tucked towards the top of the frame. The loom follows the frame from the inside and jumps over the frame around the seat area, going under into the seat area etc.. I dont know if I explained it well! but thats how Mine is :p

Cheers for that, should of mentioned mine is a 76a, but that makes sense. I have it loosely attached down the left side just now so I can suss out what goes where. Thanks, and hope your enjoying the rebuild, I am despite it being very frustrating at times! si

the 76a runs down the left side of the seat unit to the battery tray. Then goes down the right side of the tray where it comes up over the top of the rear frame upper bar where it then is clipped to the frame to the headstock. Let me know if you need more info

Cheers stripes, will have a go at that tomorrow, would you have a picture of how the wiring under the headstock, I had sussed the bracket with the three plugs on it going there, but do the coils mount over the top of them? I can't see any where else for them to go unless I am missing a bracket or something!

On the happy side, I got it fired up after tea tonight, put a gallon in the tank, prime, onto reserve, fired first prod of the switch! Revs cleanly whe warm though I haven't revved it past 7k, is oil and water tight too. Needs header pipe gaskets though. si

its too tight to get a decent picture in that area. The cables feed through then come down over the coils. The coils have a spaced braket behind them. I think that makes sense. I know what i mean but describing it isn't easy
