Not just HRC! The VFR750F RC24 has air scoops in the side fairings that squirt air directly into the V. I've wondered before if the 400's might benefit from similar.

In fact, here we go, see the triangular vent at the front, that funnels air into the middle of the V (the other side has the same kind of setup).

Anybody got any links to the HRC NC35 carb set up. I've got the air tray and CDI what else do I need to do?

It's all in the rvf hrc manual on Mike's site.

Basically it uses a jet kit and airbox top with enlarged scoop, run with no filter.

what kind of performance boost would be gained from the air scooP?, extra bhp?

The HRC airtray won't provide any power gains alone, as it's meant to be used with the HRC carb kit. The whole kit and tray should get you around the 68ish HP mark on a standard engine with exhaust etc. Gives great top-end power. Below 5000 rpm there's not a lot there = not a great idea for the road unless you like to slip the clutch a lot.
