Re: NC24 Petrol tank leaking
DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME,, this stuff does not last a crack, tried it out on my tank and thought it was a good job, even rode the bike for a few weeks just with primer on it before the final respray,no leaks so I got it sprayed up nice and shiny red but it lasted a few weeks then started leaking again, gurrr... tank fuc*ed and new spray job ruined...
bined the tank and got one from a breaker.. now will I bother getting a respray mmmhh.

Re: NC24 Petrol tank leaking
Hi,
i've used some tank sealing resin on my brother inlaws GPZ a couple of years ago, it wasnt leaking but was mega rusty and was always clogging the jets up. Anyway its still working fine and not cracked or fell off or anything. But like its stated in the site Neo posted, things have to be mega clean and dry, its all in the prep (as my sprayer friend always says). i spent several days cleaning the petrol and rust out then spent a couple more days cleaning the cleaning stuff out and drying it!
But its prob easier to find another tank, i couldnt find one for a gpz thats wasnt rusty so didnt bother and used the resin.
I cant remember what make it was but i still got the tin in the garage somewere, its made in lincoln, i'll dig it out.
cheers
Ian

Re: NC24 Petrol tank leaking
Well i have the replacement tank and its rough but nothing the bodyshop couldnt easily put right, and mine is at an engineering works being repaired as i type this and will be ready friday pm. 'Happy Days'..

Now here is the dilema im in; Shall i get the replacement tank fixed up and painted to be used as my full time tank OR; Shall i use the replacement as a tempery one leaving it white, and then get mine refitted when resprayed all nice and shiney, and risk it turning into a collinder springing more holes in time?
I didnt want to spend the next 2 years respraying tanks!!

As you're getting the original repaired anyway I go back to that once it's ready, as for the new one, prep it and spray it up a matt white or similar. If you subsequently decide to sell it then it'll appeal to more prospective buyers, well that's what I do.................oh hang on a minute, I am
Nice one buddy.

I think you are right

I actually think it will look good on my bike if i decide to leave the headlight fairing white. Either way i will get it painted white and the dents sorted out.
I have located a good specialist bike painter today, he showed me some of the work he is doing now, and his work looks awesome. Resprays and fairing repairs inc plastic welding so i can see me spending far too much money with him.

Re: NC24 Petrol tank leaking
The hole is now repaired but im not getting the paint done just yet, in case it leaks again, so i have put some primer on it to protect the metal.

While it was being welded it caused a hole on the underneath aswell...

Its only rough but when its painted and filled it will look all nice and new. Ane here it is on the bike, doesnt look as bad as i thought it would, so im happy for now.

IM now going to get the white tank sorted and sprayed NH196 white so i can then change if i need to.
Any comments welcome
