Hi can any one recomend a replacement rear shock for my honda cb1 400 which is much firmer , ie from another model perhaps ??

Buying a new Showa shock would cost you a fortune. Try Hagon shocks, they don't appear as nice as the showas but they are good in performance. If they are leaking oil, you can send them to an authorised repairer, he would pierce them from the bottom of the gas chamber, unscrew them, remove the nitrogen gas, change the oil seal and assemble again, inserting new gas. Quite a task to do.

A '95 fireblade shock bolts staight in, works better than the original and will get rid of that wierd mid corner feeling.
