patience..........persevere like buggery and dont lose the rag, they will go on in the end!!!
when i put mine back on i lined up the front two carbs and forced them in.......make sure they go fully home then push the back two down and back whilst making sure the front two dont come back up....i had a helluva a time getting my carbs back on but in the end....... :D :D

Ok I'll keep trying, I just dont wanna ruin my brand new rubbers, it feels like you have to be quite harsh with them!

How about soaking rubbers in hot water first, softening them a bit.
How hard can it be?

Re: Can't get carbs back on :(
I'm so impatient with these things that I've used a heavy rubber mallet to get the rears in. Don't hit them with anything is my advice not that anybody would as you are not as stupid and impatient as me. You could break off a piece of the castings which I did and had to buy a new set of carbs.
Using grease or silicon spray should help. I've since seen somewhere here that heating the rubbers is the way to go. I'll put the hairdryer on them next time but I WILL NOT HIT THEM!
In my time I've removed and installed carbs dozens of times on many different bikes. Without doubt these are THE MOST difficult I've ever encountered.

would also try this, also oli try and get the front two located then press down on the back, and use a thin flat screwdriver to guide the rubber aroung the back two carbs, then give them a good push down (your whole body weight!) worked for me with new carbs rubbersmick.mh2racing wrote:How about soaking rubbers in hot water first, softening them a bit.

Re: Can't get carbs back on :(
Sort of off topic, but since my bike is in bits, if I mount the carbs on the bare engine, will the frame fit over the motor with the carbs attached during reassembly? Seems it would be easier to mount the carbs this way. Anyone?
