Advice on NC30 Forks

Post by ibby4585 »

Right, this is probably a stupid question, But!!

Ive taken the forks off my NC30 to give the lowers a rub down and respray. Ive never done this before so im a bit lost as to know if they are bit fooked! They are straight and are only a bit pitted up near the yokes. My question is there anyway to tell if the internals need sorting? I can push them down by hand a good 2inches, i cant get them to bottom out but close!! Do they need a bit of TLC?? And also how difficult is it to put Rick O internal in??

Any Advice would be great!!

Ta

rick o internals are easy fitted mate and probably one of the best things you can do to the front end.

there isn't much to check on front, if the leg rocks back and forth when it's still attached to the lower the bushes are shot, the springs are the best part of 15 years old now so new ones from rick are always going to sort that. apart from that new oil always freshens things up up front.maybe change the oil while they are off and if it's still soft getthe kit from rick after, you can change the spring without dropping out the oil again.

or new legs fron ABE, ricks kit and new seals ,bushes and oil would have the forks sorted for another 15 years (hopefully)
It's not having what you want but wanting what you've got....Loud ,Proud and Modified ....

Cheers Rhory, I think the bushes are ok, but the deeper i get with this project i keep finding problems! It doesnt look like anything has been serviced or overhauled in years!!

Ive placed the order with Gavin, will let you know when it arrives.
