Early NC23 Triarm airbox problem.

Post by blueflag »

Hi all,
Had a fairly disappointing Dyno run on my race bike, with a bit of a hole in the midrange and only 56 bhp. I am now looking around for bits and bobs to improve. One thing that people keep bringing up is that the standard airbox should be left alone. Well, on closer inspection it looks like mine has been modded in the past by drilling 4 x 10mm holes in the lid just above the intake trumpets.
I've now blanked them off ready to try again. Question is, is that enough to give me an improvement, however small?
I will also be making up a heat shield to go above the rad to shield the air intake from at least some hot air.
In a perverse way I am enjoying all of this fiddling about, wierd or what?
Cheers!
Mike

Is the bike standard?

Maybe the holes were drilled to suite aftermarket items such as an exhaust and dyno jet kit..

56 isnt to bad if its a standard bike.. max should be around 59, no?

Hi,
What I've done to the bike is as follows,
I've lowered the head by 0.25mm to raise the compression a bit, lightly smoothed out the ports, just taking out casting lumps and bumps. it is fitted with a race system and viper can (make of system unknown) Dialled in cams, quietening gears removed on cams, total loss on electrics. Modified standard air filter as GF's instructions. (mind, he DID say not to modify the airbox, I was just unaware it had been done until I looked more carefully after the dyno!)
Sounds like a great list of mods, so WHERE'S MY POWER??
Cheers

What's the air filter mod if you don't mind me asking?
