well it just keeps getting better
fitted the r6 shock yesterday, no major dramas there, except getting it in there without a bike stand, so out came the car ramp for one side and the axle stand for the other and a big bar through the middle after removing the battery box, lifted the bike so the wheel was of the ground, took the old shock out, the r6 shock had to go in the side after removing the rear master cylinder and the shock adapter as it was too long to fit in, once i got it in i replaced the shock adapter and found the standard 3tj shock bolt doesn't fit through the top of the r6 shock so a quick trip to alfix for the right size bolt and that was that done,
I also fitted 4 new float bowl seals whilst i had the bike apart as it was periodically spewing petrol (that got some funny looks down the quay last Tuesday as i parked between about £50000 worth of bikes :pray: ) checked the tyres which were a bit on the low side (yeah i know evil you did say that at the beginning of this thread :oops: ) brought them up to 30psi in each,
Then today i went for a play and it's like a new bike (and i still got to sort the forks) i did about 25k on the bypass, there's a couple of nice long bends which it used to wallow around and get very unstable on, now its planted and all at the regulation speed limit you understand, then it was off to about 75k of Dorset's bestest wiggly bits and they are wiggly, the bike was spot on, in fact i had to check the speed every now and again as pushing it like i had been last week i'm now going 20/25k faster round the same bit of road.
I'm f*ckin well chuffed :grin:
if you got this far then well done for sticking at it, there'll be another update when i get the fork springs in.

i've talked to them all and hagons are progressive and a bike generic spring not built to the rider spec but if your around the design weight of the bike then will be an improvement and much better than standard, racetech seem to be pretty much like the maxtons and are made to measure with springs and spacers to suit but you'll still be adding delivery and VAT after the maxton final price, so i went with the maxtons there paid for and on there way so hopefully this weekend the bike will be in bits AGAIN and ready for next weeks ride outs,
now all i gotta do is get the break pads, braided lines and a front tyre none of which have had-it yet but their next on the list.
can anyone give me a good reference for the bank manager please, he's starting to get the ump

Well maxtons are on the ball
I ordered the springs and spacers yesterday PM and got em this morning, they actually sent the wrong size spacers but after talking to them it's probably better, here's the technical bit (it may help someone out down the line)

original bit's
spacers - 135mm
springs - 341mm which is the minimum free length, large free length is 346mm
which = 135mm + 341mm = 476mm

maxton recommended
spacers - 216mm
springs - 260mm
which = 476mm same length as i had

what they sent was
spacers - 260mm
springs - 260mm
which = 520mm
which is way too long, but after talking to maxtons it appears there's room for manoeuvre so i cut the spacers to 221mm which allows for the original large free length of 346mm and if there too hard i have room to cut them down a couple mm at a time until it feels good (within reason) i have some pics to upload later

EDIT
as you can see the springs are much shorter and tighter wound, their 0.95kg per M, with much bigger spacers, the leftover pieces are what i've cut off so far and i can always trim a bit more too suit,

I found it's better to cut them off leaving a couple of mm and then file them down, it takes longer but you get a better finish, as the end of the spacer needs to sit square on the spring and against top nut
