What can cause carb overfueling?

Post by Varcon »

Pretty sure the carbs are over fueling massivly - all the signs are there for it to be overfueling.

What in the carbs could be causing this, and how can i fix it?

Its got new o-rings in the carbs, i have the carbs out again to work on as these are definatly the issue now. Gonna strip a clean them just to be sure.

When taking them apart i noticed the the 'gaskets' that sit infront of the mixers on them are very wet with fuel, so maybe these are not doing their jobs properly?

Anywhere else i should defiantly be checking?

Cheers!

o-rings damaged when fitting. O-rings not seating right. Worn needles. Worn emulsion tubes. Wrong size jets. Blocked air filter. Just check everything. Also check you have all the parts fitted in the right order

Hi,
Just finished rebuilding a basket case GK73a with a damaged engine. All going well but had carb number 4 overfuelling and causing the plug to soot up resulting in a misfire after a few minutes running. I'd rebuilt them precisley but neglected to set the float heights. 3 were fine but number 4 was 3mm too high, 11.5mm instead of 14.5mm. Reset the float, set the mixture screws to 1.75 turns out and now all ok. I'd recommend checking the float valve isn't worn and seats properley as this is the critical part that meters the fuel from the tank into the float bowl.

Hope this helps
Craig
