nc30 relay electrical question

ok this is a nc30 relay based question but i have changed mine some what - not sure if it will make a difference...

i have replaced the standard nc30 headlights with cbr 600rr headlights. after altering the wires to accept the cbr headlights the issue i was having was - select low beam, that was fine.

but

select high beam, it would come on but low beam would go out ( 600rr one bulb high beam - one low ). now obviously i need both on when the high beam is selected, i have fitted a relay to take care of this and now both high & low work when high beam is selected.

so the question is at present i am taking power direct from the battery with an inline fuse to the '30' side of the relay, everything else is wired correctly.

is it safe / adviseable to keep this feed to the '30' on the relay connected direct to the battery or should use a positive feed some where else on the loom? is keeping it direct to the battery likely to drain it? etc..?

I'd run your own power directly to the battery and put a couple of inline 10 amps to each bulb.

Nothing wrong with what you have done at all, the relay will isolate power when the bike isnt running so its safe and its fused, (as long as its 30A rated wire) why didnt you redirect the original headlight supplies though, might have been a better solution.

i have modded this bike in so many different ways & i dont want to start undoing some of the work i have done especially with the loom. so an extra relay was my simplest option.

its now half 12, the sun is out its warm, not to hot. im off to do some more to her and get a tan at the same time

ok i thought all had gone well late yesterday. soldered & heat shrink covered all new connections made with the extra relay & wiring. turned the ignition back on, switched to low beam and i heard

then i checked the fuses and the blue 15a fuse had blown. replaced it, checked all connections cant see any issues. high beam is working along with my new relay and side lights just no low beam?

possible knackered switch gear? ( it has always looked very rough ever since i have had her ) i have checked all wires cant see any damaged, frayed etc wires. i have a 929 fireblade switch gear thats looks the same connection so wil try that tonight, but is there something obvious im missing?
