Need a bolt! but have no idea what type or size!

Hi all

I have a question for you VFR experts but im not that sure i will be able to explain the problem well but I will try!

Ok the basic problem is that since my bike came back from the garage my nose cone on my NC21 is bouncing about all over the place. On closer inspection it looks like im missing a bolt\bolts!!

I think the nose cone is secured by 3 bolts one either side of the head stock and one directly under the ignition and fuse box. The bolt im missing is the one under the ignition and fuse box! so although at the moment the nose cone is being held on by the bolts on either side it feels very very dodgy and im worried about the whole thing coming off!

I seriously hope someone will know what im reffering to even with my somewhat dodgy description!!

Does any body know what type of bolt i will need and what size??

Any help here really appreciated as i have just got her back on the road and really want to be able to ride her!

First get in touch with said garage especially if the nose cone was ok when taken in.

Well in all honesty i am not 100% sure it wasnt like it when it went in. i had only rode it for about 50 miles prior to going into the garage and although i had not noticed it before I cant say it wasnt present.

Either way I need to find a way of securing the nose cone properly to the bike! i have tried cable tie's but oddly enough they all snapped!!

From memory I would say m6 ie 10ml spanner but I cannot remember the lengths.You need somebody with a big tin of nuts and bolts

The nosecone is secure by the mirrors and the side bolts..

The only thing secured under the fusebox is the clock mount bracket...

The nose cone may have locating points moulded onto the inside of the fairing which sit inside rubber bushings mounted on the chassis to secure it in place, these can snap off.

I have an NC21 nosecone 2 feet from me.

All I can think is that the clock bracket.. which bolts underneath the fusebox has the mirrors attached to it also, if the whole bracket is loose your fairing could move above.

Remove the mirrors (2 x 10mm nuts) and the 3 x side screws (each side) and the nose cone will come off.. you'll have to disconnect indicators and headlamp

You can then investigate further :)

It could be both.. if you check out my reply i've added some pictures of a nose-cone.. towards the top you can see the two holes the mirror bolts through.. the clock bracket comes upto these holes so if its loose i'd imagine the nosecone will shake about a bit.

Easy way to tell though.. remove the nose cone and see if you can shake the clocks :)
