Nc23 died!
Right well there was a few things happenin, first there was the problem of it runnin on 3 when it had been rainin and stopped when it warmed up which I worked out it was the ht leads routed wrong and gettin wet! So I think. Next my bike just cut out while going down the road all electrics gone nothin happenin at all checked fuses they were ok checked fuse in starter solenoid and it had blown so changed that and it blew again, checked all earths and nothin wrong, tried by passin the starter motor by disconnectin it from the starter solenoid put fuse in just blew again, so bit stuck its my only mode of transport and I work long hours lol. I have another starter solenoid at my mums that im going to put on tomoz. But in case that is not the problem could anyone advise on what it could be? As im not so good with electrics yet lol. Cheers adam

Re: Nc23 died!
You sir, have a 'short'. Look for crushed or damaged wiring as a start point.
Or replace the loom because 'shorts' are a bastard to find.
Notice the generous use of space in this post to make it easier to read.
I'm old and have become like my father. This time poor bastardisation of the English language where everyone types like this 'cos they R 2 lazy to do things prply drives me fkn nuts. No one has that little time.
Who's with me?

Re: Nc23 died!
Preach it Gregg!
Also, petrolhead19. I'm having a similar problem. Mine keeps stalling if I let the revs drop to quickly and isn't idling properly either (so I thought it could be misfiring or running on three). Haven't looked for anything yet as I'm off to back to London for a month for Easter, but you've given me a good starting point. Those things I described similar to what was happening to you?

Re: Nc23 died!
Lol gregg sorry for the silly writing but im using my phone so cant really put gaps in between texts. I thought it could be a short I tried everythin looked at all wires I have a spare loom but its too much work to put it on when I need the bike for work tomoz lol. And yeah thats similar problems to what I was havin then it just died, im thinkin it could be a short within the fuse box maybe? Could the ht leads I had to re route be shorting and blowing the fuse in the solenoid each time I put a new one in? I need help lol. Cheers adam

Re: Nc23 died!
You are really talking about the main fuse aren't you? 30amp that lives next to the starter solenoid?
I blew mine when I fitted a hydraulic pressure switch on my rearsets - it slightly touched the frame...and pop.
Kept doing it til I noticed...
Electrical ballaches can be tough to find but get looking!

Re: Nc23 died!
Another update I have ordered a new barrel and wire. Tried startin the bike up and nothin its turnin over but not even tryin to fire up, which I suspect there is no spark? But I think somethin has burnt out too as there was smoke comin from behind the clocks
so I have had enough im gonna have to some how get the bike to my mums were all my spares are and going to strip it down and replace the loom, coils and leads (lucky I have a spares).

Yeah smoke = Wires That Shouldn't be Contacting Each Other Are Touching!greggo wrote:You sir, have a 'short'. Look for crushed or damaged wiring as a start point.
That sounds more like a fuelling problem (pilot screw settings for starters), but you can never not rule out an electrical problem on 90's hondas!dickdastardly wrote: Mine keeps stalling if I let the revs drop to quickly and isn't idling properly either

Re: Nc23 died!
Well took the wiring harness off last night. And found the plug for the starter switch has melted 'hence the smoke' so the reason it wouldnt fire up is cause it was stuck in kill all the time 'no spark' putting other harness on on monday so will update when I done it and give the end results lol
