NC24 - No spark?

If your going to do all that, i'd seriously consider ditching it and get an NC30! It's never going to be worth more than £7-800 (any time soon!) even if its mint.

It's going to cost you an arm and a leg to get all that done.. (especially when you realise that the collectorbox is goign to cost you around £150 for anythign 1/2 decent, and then you have to remove the engine from the bike to change it!)

New ignition/charging system. (£145 for battery / igition box / genny / reg/rec)
Complete exhaust system (including can). (£200+)
get the frame cleaned up. (£80.00+ powdercoated)
wheels re-painted. (£75.00 pair powder-coated)
New Screen. (£30.00)
new bolts all round. (£35.00)
possible overhaul of brakes. (£90.00 for pistons / seals / grease)

Thats £655.00 working on bare-minimum prices and not including labour / personal time spent. Couple that with the £650 you've already spent thats £1305, you can easily get a decent NC30 for that much.. which not only holds its value better also has

Better brakes / suspension / choice of tyres available.

The 24's a nice bike! But if depends on how much you really want to invest in a bike that your never going to see much back from...

I see where you are coming from and I think you are right.

Here's the plan. Get the bike patched up, with MOT etc. I'll do a decent service myself on it. Keep it for a few months till I'm confident on a bike (this is my first), then get rid around May time (when I get my bonus) I might loose £300 but its probably better than spending £600 to keep it running.

I've seen a lovely mint looking 1996 NC30 for sale for £1500. Doubt it'll still be for sale in May!

It might not be! But theres always going to be another about.

If you have no voltage to the coils theres a good chance that it is just the Ingition box thats knackered, so it'll at least be running :)

Just give it an oil change / service and the once over to keep it on the road and enjoy the bike. You might fall in love with it or you might decide you want something else...

Don't be too eager to throw money at it until you decide what your going to do :) Just resist the temptation and get it running first :D

could be cdi pick up on the genny cover if it aint gapped right or cover is damaged this could be a strong possibility

Already suggested that as it's a common fault.. However theres no power to any of the coils which would suggest the igition box is dead :/

Well there's no word back from the garage. I wonder if:
a) They're really busy.
or
b) They can't find the fault :D

If the CDI unit arrives tomorrow I'll drop it down to them.

Yep lol! you shoulda swapped that over first before you took it in only 2 plugs! Might solve some problems :D Good luck and keep me posted, we'll get it working :)

Garage hasnt looked at the bike

CDI arrived, I shoulda held onto the bike myself! blah ohwell.

On a side note I seem to have lost an HT lead ffs!! lol I think this bike is cursed

Take the Igntion box down to them and plug it in, just unplug the old one, no need to remove the old one while your testing, and see if you have power to the coils and spark :)
