VFR non starter
My VFR had a sticky valve a while back. This was sorted, I rode the bike home, started once since and then...
Now it isn't starting.
When I hit starter, battery voltage drops from about 11.5 to about 6-7. Not sure if this is normal.
Any ideas?

Sounds like a bad battery(doesn't hold its charge). Cud be a few other things mind- swap in a gud battery or jump start her, if she fires up no problem its the battery.

Re: VFR non starter
It is a brand new battery that was charged before using.
What is voltage meant to be when you're hitting the starter?

Re: VFR non starter
the voltage to start with should be prob 13v or maybe a touch more. It should not drop that far at all.

Sholdn't go below 11.7'ish when starting.vfrdave wrote:Ok thanks.
Really sounds knackered unless you have major electrical problems. Do you have a spare battery to try?

Re: VFR non starter
unfortunately no spare.
Will charge it up and check voltage on it, then try it again.

Re: VFR non starter
Fresh multimeter readings:
Battery voltage with bike off 12.58
Battery Voltage with bike on (no lights or anything just ignition) 12.28
Battery voltage with finger on the button 8.60
It sounds like it is getting sooooo close to starting.

I don't reckon the battery is strong enough. Have you tried to bump start the bike?
no throttle, full choke go for a jog with it and leap on,kick it into second...and catch it whe it fires... repeat until it works
If you get it going, check the charge rate of the reg/reg
