Carb balancing

Post by bourney »

I've just stripped and cleaned my carbs and they're pretty much ready to go on.

However, im worried about balancing them.

I have access to a carb syncroniser and everything i need to do it, or i could get it done very cheaply but where would i put the pipes from the carb syncroniser?

I thought the standard was to have a nipple coming out of the top of each carb, on the lid of the diaphram (so to speak lol).
But my carbs don't have one, in fact they don't have any nipple on any carb. So i havn't got a clue how im going to balance them now :S

Is there somewhere i could send them off to be balanced, because they don't HAVE to be balanced on my motor do they?

cheers.

The holes are on the inlet manifolds, and yes you do have to do it with the carbs on your bike as you are balancing the carbs for your cylinders.

As Wozza says the holes are on the inlet manifolds....if your syncroniser is like mine you should have four brass pipes that you just screw into the holes (after removing the blanking screws first) then attatch your rubber tubes from the syncroniser to the brass pipes and follow the instructions that come with your syncroniser....it really is quite simple....one thing I have is a extra long fuel pipe that I attatch from the fuel tank to the pump (as the engine needs to be running to balance the carbs) I then can place the tank away from the bike on a workmate, and it's out of my way while I'm working on the bike.
