XJ400 Diversion

Post by Restoleum » Wed Apr 30, 2014 9:00 pm

Hi,

Hoping someone can help me.

Picked up a 400 Diversion cheap. Not the best bike ever but better than no bike at all. Anyway, the forks are leaking so set about changing the fork seals. Most parts are XJ600 parts except the forks it would seem. The forks are original as they are stamped 4bp and i found that the fork seals are the same size as the early FZR400 but the internals are different. Only problem now is i can't find any info as to the fork oil volume in each leg. Has anyone got another method of working out what the volume is? I tried to measure what came out but got 200+ cc's out of them and i'm sure that's not right.

Any help would be gratefully appreciated.posting.php?mode=post&f=95#

Start with 100mm air gap ride it see how it feels and add / remove oil to get it where you want. It's not the best way to do it but it will get you to a point where it's rideable. Be a little cautious and go for supple rather than hard.

I don't know anything about these so that's the nearest guess.

Tried the XJ400 with 100mm air gap and massively improved the handling. Going to leave it as is for now as i am happy with the way it rides. Just for the record, the fork seals were FZR600 genesis ones.

FORK SEAL SIZE 38X50X8/9.5

In case anyone looks for this info in the future.

Thanks for your help evilchicken. Great forum too.
