Cadwell Park 1/9/13 Nolimits trackday inters group..........

Post by maccas » Fri Sep 06, 2013 4:01 pm

Hi guys,

Done a couple of trackdays on the newly acquired 3tj-1. Really enjoyed them. However I now know what a tankslapper/highside feels like..... They hurt. I was having a good dabble with my mate on a zxr400 when I felt the rear slide on the exit of the left hander at the chicane at Cadwell. Next think I know I am looking at the sky knowing what is about to happen.

The battle is the first few laps but the crash is just after 11:30 with a slow motion version after it. Luckily no broken bones to report just two sprained ankles and a bruised arse. Certainly hasn't put me off :P

The bike will now be made into a purpose built trackbike with a daytime MOT.

Just thought I'd share with you all!

Dan

Cheers buddy! Yeah it could have been far worse. I think I was very lucky not to break a bone.

I am quite glad it was caught on video though haha.

lol, there's tons of replay value in that. The only good thing about falling off is being able to see it afterwards on film.

Looked like you had the rear stepping out a bit on some of the laps before but that might be just the camera making it look that way. Watching all of the laps before the crash just makes me want to book another TD up there before the summers out!

Hi guys,

Kieran,

Yeah i think i agree, after looking back through the vids closely it does look like it was on the limit of grip on some of the previous laps. I'm wondering if the r6 rear shock is set a bit hard for the fzr and my weight. I intend to get it all set up ready for next year. Was having a great session before that though.

Benny,

Yeah so i felt the rear go, steered into it, then self preservation reflexes kicked in and i shut off which is the worst thing i could have done. Next thing i know i'm upside down with the bike stuck in my back lol. I hope i don't go through that again haha.

Thought so, well at least it turned out well enough for you to be well looking back on it. Makes a good video too!

Yea it looked like you where going pretty well, i dont suppose you timed yourself for any of it? Id have said you had alot of grip until you where getting on the power then it looked like it was starting to move around quite a bit, dont suppose you have a pic of your tyre after the session? Could probably tell alot just by seeing the state its in.
