Smurf Blue NC29 in NZ
Hey guys, some of you will possibly recall a few of my CBR400RR build threads from previous years.
Well I love these little 400s' and yesterday stumbled across another one that has tickled my fancies.
I pick her up next week and can't wait! She's quite an ugly blue colour and was destined for the race track, so it will be interesting to see what (if any) gremlins she has.
It's missing a few indicators, park lights etc and the exhaust has a leak. That's about all I know for now but from the photos' she looks to be a great starter for a weekend road bike.
I plan on getting it road registered again and taking it out on weekends.....just because I can!
Photos' and updates soon to come.
Thanks for reading.

Don't get too excited, I'm not expecting anything amazing...just something 'tidy' and 'nice'.dunkenb wrote:Another gimly build ........I'm Sooo excited!!

Re: Smurf Blue NC29 in NZ
Rightyo, so first things first I stripped the fairings off the old girl. They are plastic welded and in pretty bad shape (I won't be re-using them). If anyone needs a set of smurf blue fairings for their track bike get in touch with me!
I discovered a 'nasty' on the right hand side of the frame!!!! An alloy lug which holds the side fairings has been snapped off. Damn. Does anyone know if this can be rectified ie. an alloy tab welded back on?? I'm not a welding expert at all. If I can't get that tab replaced it may jeopardize getting the bike registered for the road.
The shock isn't factory by the looks of it (excuse the poor quality Samsung photos).
That's all for now. I've started rebuilding the carbs as well but am now having to focus on repairing that tab/lug on the frame before I can progress.

Just discovered the engine is an NC23. Damn.
If anyone is after an NC23 engine flick me a message.

Are you positive it's a 23 engine? Are the mountings not in a different position on the nc23 engines or do they just slip straight in.

Yeah definitely an NC23 engine. Engine number is NC23E. Never had a 23 but they're so similar I wouldn't be surprised if they slot straight in.
