Cool, I knew it was ok on bare steel but I thought aluminium required a special primer? Be interesting to see how it holds up.

Oh I see. Like a zinc primer? I'm not sure what to do now :(. Do I do them again with a primer knowing they will last a while or put them on as they are and see how they hold out but possibly have to strip them at a later stage and then do them again? Decisions decisions...I know a few people have used hammerite, What prep did you all do and what results were achieved? Does anyone know how the paint would react if brake fluid was to leak onto it?

Thanks Alex, yes the axle was zinc coated and came up pretty well :).
