To be fair, it was fooped before as it was blocked..

I took the bike out the other day and it was marginally better but the rad has been due replacement for a little while now.. :?

I repainted the fan cowling a few weeks ago as it was starting to look a little grubby after inspecting the lower rad. I cleaned the knackered rad up as best as I could and also took the opportunity to paint the grill on v-piece too so it all looks a bit better now.. I had drained the coolant as it's been in for at least 18 months and replaced it with fresh stuff for good measure. It is running a little cooler still (80 / 90 - up to what would be 100 in traffic) but replacement is on the cards anyways.

The odo passed through 50000 Km today which means it's done about 8000 km since the rebuild two years ago and over 18000 km since I've owned it.

I've also said goodbye to the FJ this week (fancied a change - not sure what to replace it with) so the NC30 will be on front line duty for a few weeks.

Well, a few months back, the knackered lower radiator failed finally. One of the seams split and fired the coolant all down the front of the engine and exhaust pipes - Steam everywhere! Thankfully it was in the garage at home and not miles from home! I've been a little slow to replace it as the weather has hardly been awesome but I ordered a replacement chinese one (the last one has done 5 years and the top one is still fine) and less than two weeks later it's arrived.

This newer generation one is much better constructed so it would seem. I've had zero fitment or installation issues and so for the vast sum of £38, it's put the NC30 back in business.

Just a quick post to say the little 400 is still running strong - it threw a bit of a wobbly at the cafe on the A41 the other day but it was repaired at the roadside and thanks to a jump-start from the Mrs' bike, got me home.

It's been 10 years as good as since I first owned the NC30and nearly three since it's rebuild. It still fills me with as much joy now as it did then.
