Re: FZR RRSP 3TJ7
Well no one wanted the poor little FZR so it has been sitting un loved in the corner of the shed until a mate of mine pointed out to me as to why it may of refused to start the day of the MOT, The fuel tap was off
In my defence if this is at all redeemable i didn't know it had one, the race bike i had didn't have one and as it has a fuel switch on the dash i just took it for granted it didn't have one, plus the tap handle is missing. I still should of twigged but hay ho.
Anyway so now its MOT'd, taxed and registered Took it for a ride thursday and the clutch slipped like mad, literally made it to the petrol station and then home. Stripped clutch and everything was in spec but following advice from the ever helpful Evilchicken it was a simple case of resetting the clutch pushrod and finally today i got to take it on a proper run. It still has the restricted jap spec CDI on it so runs out of puff up top but i gotta say i really gelled with the bike, feels light, nimble and is in a different league comfort wise to the RVF
Still has a few issues,
Airbox does not seat 100% due to fooked airbox rubbers
Battery is barely getting 13v @ 5k rpm, Wiring doesn't look the best so could be down on juice from the genni
Brakes are not the best, suspect shit pads or sticking pistons
Fork seals leak
Needs a quick action throttle the stock one is ridiculously long
Not sure how long i can stick the stock exhaust its just too quiet, i've dusted off the Ti hindle system but unsure about fitting due to losing the EXUP valve. The midrange is pretty flat as it is it must be dire without the valve, anyone run a full system on the road? is it that bad?

Re: FZR RRSP 3TJ7
Hey DM a happy story. If all else fails I will be making those airbox rubbers. I am just ridiculously slow. But in my defence moulds are expensive and I am quite certain that I will never get my money back. However, my project 3TJ is long past the point of being sensible, so it has to happen.

Did the winner of the auction not contact/ show up ?
Probably just as well really, for the amount of money you had put into the bike.

Re: FZR RRSP 3TJ7
Break even number???
Don't really know. Depends what the selling price is and costs etc. I guess about 20 sets of four. In any case my project bike is just a showcase for the business so I am not going to be counting the beans.
cheers

Re: FZR RRSP 3TJ7
Thanks to andy (laminator) who donated a nos set of airbox rubbers for a earlier model I have for the first time since owning the bike a airbox that fits. Thanks pal
different in shape but fit perfectly, tick over is dead steady now and the revs no longer hang
only mod I did was cut off a lug so the clips sat flush

Re: FZR RRSP 3TJ7
Well you eventually got it going right anyhow .
Mind you fooked about and disheartened yourself enough times.
Chris informed that the mod worked with Genesis intakes and the parts were available for pennies at the time.
Just in time for winter Eh !
