Well I was told it was a TSR half system. So that's two people I've heard it from now.

Unfortunately Sam you have second Dibs on it but I'm pretty sure it will be sold on so I can put a standard system back on it.

I've just had a good look at it in photo's compared to the TSR on my VFR and it is identical, even the end can is the same.

Early start this morning as the bike was delivered at 6.45am.

Have to say it was still reasonably dark when I pushed it into the garage so I quickly popped the battery on charge and left it for an hour. popped it back on the bike and she started first time. a bit wooly but the carbs will come off and be cleaned on Sunday which should sort that out, pop some fresh fuel in and it'll run like a goodun I reckon.

I need to replace a headlight bulb and give it a clean but I have to say I'm really happy with it. The body work has a few little cracks and a small scuff on the lower right hand fairing panel but I'm really happy with how it looks. It's still got the original tyres on it and C&S as well by the looks of it. For some reason it's had a new ignition barrel put in but as long as it works i can live with that.

The original plan was to strip the bodywork and the TSR pipe off it and replace it with my new bodywork and a mint standard can I have, now I've got it though I'm thinking of just taking off the pipe and selling that on and keeping the bodywork on it as it is.

First job on sunday though is to get the carbs working properly and giving the engine a service with valve clearances and and some new plugs and filters.

So I managed to spend a really productive day in the garage working on my new RVF.

After speaking to Drunkn Munky and describing what was wrong with the bike we decided it was best to take off the carbs and check the pilot jets weren't blocked. The bike would start fine and run on the choke but wouldn't rev or run off the choke. I decided it would be best to take out all the jets and pop then in an ultrasonic bath.

Bear in mind my technical knowledge is limited to say the least I decided that I'd tackle it on my own rather than have someone do it for me. So armed with cammo's guide I set about stripping off the carbs. Getting the carbs off was pretty straight forward. I took 3 of the carb bottoms off but the last one had a rounded screw so that stayed on. I took out the main jets, the emulsion tubes and the pilot jets and gave them a clean in the ultrasonic cleaner. I have to say these things are brilliant and the jets came out looking like new. Popped them all back in and now the fun and games began.

Getting the carbs back on was a LOT harder than getting them off. Luckily I have access to the RVF Technical Helpline (Drunkn Munky) which was really helpful and after some expert guidence and an hour of mucking about and making silly errors I had them back on and nice and tight. Popped everything back together and have to say she fired up fine and ran really well. Revs freely and ticks over nicely off the choke so I was really happy with that and chuffed to bits I'd managed to do it as we'll.

I managed to sort the front lights out as well and replace the rental grips with originals so now it looks as good as it sounds. I didn't get round to switching the exhaust like I'd planned but I'll probably get round to that next week.

All in all I have to say I'm really happy with the bike and the fact it runs right now. Even shot up the road and back quickly and everything works as it should.

Good to hear. Did you use special fluid in the ultrasonic cleaner?

I bought some special fluid that's recommended for the cleaner and put some boiling water in as well to gee it up a bit.

Forgot to mention I opened the rear set unit and found this inside. Need to give the case a good clean though.

Overall it's a cracking looking bike but I'm still not sure wether to put on the new RR bodywork or not, never been a fan of the RT colour scheme.

Nice, looks quite clean in the pics.
I keep toying with the idea of selling the Britain rep and buying an Rvf.

Did you pay a lot for it?
