Hi Guys,

Picked up this NC29 for okish money to start racing in a Pre Modern class that our Post Classic racing club now runs.

Just a quick run down on whats been done to the bike from previous owners.

1. Front Forks have Gold-Valves and the shim stacks are set-up for 70kg rider
2. Rear Shock is a CBR600 unit re valved. Looking at replacing with a Nitron unit.
3. Exhaust is a big bore 4-2-1 with a no name can. Have a Carbon Aka RSVR end can that may be shorten and used.
4.Thick core alloy race radiator.
3. HRC Copy Airbox.

After finding that the fuel pump had failed and setting up a mobile fuel tank to get it running the thing smoked like a two stroke.

So the decision was made to get in and have a good look around.

On inspection I found 2 of the inlet cam lobes damaged, exhaust ports full of sticky black oily carbon.

I haven't pulled the cases apart yet to check the rings but more then likely they will be shot as there is a bit of oil sitting on top of the pistons.

And the upgrading starts.

I picked up some brembo 40mm caliper mounts which gives me the option of running a set of single pin 916 calipers or some 91' Brembo GP calipers. These will be matched up to a pair HRC 296mm discs.

While surfing the net over the weekend I saw a 'HRC' rear seat cowl and was quite impressed with the way it had a section that could be detached from the rest of the seat cowl to make it easier to slip the rear cowl on and off the rear sub frame.

The detachable piece is about 25cm or so. The duzus clips are some 998 items i found lying about.

Have yet to try and fit it as im in the process of relocating the cdi box and other bits to the headstock, so will give it ago when the rear is tidied up.

Ooh, I like that idea! Looks like it would be an easy mod to do to any race fairing - might give that one a go :up:

As in standard you mean the look with the pattern?.

As they are actually Sunstar's copy/version of the RS 250GP bike which has the same off set as CBR's and the same 296mm diameter.

The bike came with a set of std clutch disc that where shagged, Took them over to one of my suppliers and got them to reline the plates with a Kevlar material instead of the std cork stuff.

Also found the culprit cylinder that was causing the smoky exhaust. In the same cylinder the valves had previously let go. Its looking like they just fixed the piston and valves and didn't touch the bore. I'am hoping a slight hone will fix it or at least stop the excessive smoking exhaust.
